    What you need to know

    1. During a Full Moon the fainter stars and Milky Way are washed out. At other times, a partial Moon will affect the sky less, and look amazing through the telescopes! If there is no Moon up during your tour the sky will be at its darkest, with the most detail visible in the Milky Way.

    2. You’ll be prohibited to join the tour after drinking alcohol.

    3. NO SMOKING during the tour.

    4. Please turn off the flashlight of cameras and mobiles when taking photos.

    5. Please wear warm clothes and shoes.

    6. If the weather is cloudy, we are privileged to have the opportunity to visit the southern most optical research facility in the world. The University of Canterbury Mt John Observatory is usually not accessible to anyone other than the astronomers, who are carrying out ground breaking research each night.

If you're not interested in learning about this aspect of your tour, in cases of full cloud cover, we will offer a full refund.

Tours will be cancelled if there are high winds, rain, ice or snow.
